OVS awnings on the Basecamp V3
Overland Vehicle Systems (OVS) builds the 270° batwing awning that comes pre-installed on every ADDAX Basecamp V3. It is not an accessory you bolt on later — it ships mounted, wired into the trailer's layout and positioned so it shades the pull-out kitchen rather than fighting it.
What a 270° awning actually does
A 270° awning sweeps from the side of the trailer around the rear corner, covering the galley, the entry and the ground you actually stand on. A conventional rectangular awning covers one side and leaves the working end of the trailer exposed — which is where you cook, sort gear and get in and out of the rooftop tent.
In practice it changes how long you stay outside. Rain, midday sun and wind are the three reasons people retreat into a vehicle, and a wraparound awning addresses all three from one deployment.
Why ADDAX chose it
The awning is the one piece of gear that gets opened on every single trip, so it had to be quick to deploy solo and strong enough to survive being left out. The OVS batwing is a self-supporting design with an aluminum frame that goes up without a second person.
Mounting it at the factory also means the roof structure and the rooftop tent placement were designed around it, so nothing has to be relocated when you add the rest of your build.
Adding walls for weather
The All Season Package adds OVS 270° awning wind and weather walls, which close in the space under the awning. That turns an open shade structure into a wind-protected outdoor room — the single most useful winter and shoulder-season upgrade after the insulated tent liner.
