ROAM Adventure Co. is one of the brand partners ADDAX works with in the overland space. ROAM builds adventure equipment — the kind of storage and shelter gear that spends its life strapped to a vehicle, dropped on rock and left out in weather — and that durability standard is the reason the two brands share a bench.

This page covers how ROAM-style gear fits an ADDAX Basecamp V3, what the trailer already gives you before you add anything, and where the real limits are: payload, tongue weight and where you put the heavy items. Before any accessory brand enters the conversation, the Basecamp V3 ships with a hard-shell rooftop tent and a 270° awning pre-installed, a 7-foot pull-out galley with a 53 L electric refrigerator, a 22-gallon fresh water tank with an electric pump, and a 100 Ah lithium battery fed by up to 220 W of solar into a 1500 W inverter with four 110 V outlets.

That matters when you're planning gear storage, because shelter, kitchen, water and power are already solved. What you're adding on top is dry storage, recovery equipment and sport-specific kit — and that all comes out of the same payload budget.

The Basecamp V3 is 1,800 lb dry and roughly 2,000 lb wet, with a 1,450 lb payload on a 3,500 lb axle. Water alone is heavy: a full 22-gallon tank is around 183 lb. Fuel cans, firewood, coolers, tools and recovery gear add up faster than most people expect.

Storage boxes and cases don't just hold weight, they invite it. A rugged box that survives a washboard road will also survive being overpacked, so weigh the load rather than eyeballing it — and remember roughly 10 to 15% of the loaded trailer weight lands on the hitch as tongue weight.

A trailer behind a 4x4 is a harsher environment than the tow vehicle's cabin. It sees more vertical travel, more dust and more sustained vibration, so gear that is merely water-resistant tends to fail on the second trip. The equipment worth buying seals against dust, latches positively, and can be mounted rather than stacked.

That is the same logic behind the Basecamp's own build: a 3/16 in steel chassis, a 14 gauge steel body, torsion axles and electromagnetic drum brakes, 17 inches of ground clearance and 29 in all-terrain tires on 15 in rims. Gear that matches that standard lasts as long as the trailer does.
