    What Expedition Portal covered

Concepts are cheap. Ship dates are not. Expedition Portal covered the point where the Jeep x ADDAX Gladiator camper crossed over from show-floor promise to a thing you could order and hitch to your truck.

Their piece lays out the system for what it is: a modular camper built to the Gladiator's bed, licensed by Jeep, and designed for people who use a pickup as a way into rough country rather than a commuter with attitude. Sleep up top, keep gear dry and locked, cook without unpacking the whole rig, and rip down the road the next morning without a two-hour teardown.

Getting from prototype to production is where most overland ideas quietly die. Tooling, tolerances, suppliers, and a hundred parts that have to survive real abuse. Making the summer window meant the design held up under all of it.

That same build philosophy carries straight into the Basecamp trailer — go see how the current rig is put together.
