    What Yanko Design covered

Yanko Design covers design for a living, so it's telling that what caught them on the Basecamp V3 was the stuff that does work: the slide-out kitchen and the rooftop tent.

Their take is that the V3 converts a Jeep from a way to get there into a place to stay. Pull the kitchen out the back and you've got a real cooking setup instead of a camp stove balanced on a cooler lid. Crank the tent open and you're off the ground, out of the mud, and asleep in minutes. No tarp origami, no hunting for a flat patch of dirt at midnight.

We didn't chase clever for its own sake. Every hinge and drawer on this thing exists because somebody on our team got sick of doing it the hard way. If a feature doesn't earn its weight on night three of a trip, it doesn't make the build.

Nice of a design outlet to notice that function can look good on the way by. See how the kitchen and tent actually deploy over on the Basecamp page.
